Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy
What are your therapy fees?
My fee for individual therapy is $250 per 60-minute session. I provide compassionate, LGBTQIA+ affirming counseling and EMDR therapy in Oakland and online throughout California and Oregon.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill upon request for potential reimbursement from your insurance company. Please check your insurance policy about out-of-network benefits and reimbursement procedures.
How often should I attend therapy sessions?
I typically recommend weekly sessions to begin, as this allows us to build momentum in your healing process. Your session time is reserved specifically for you. Please note that sessions canceled within 24 hours will be charged the full session fee.
Do you offer telehealth therapy sessions?
Yes! I'm happy to see clients in person at my Oakland office or virtually via secure telehealth for any California or Oregon resident. For the best telehealth experience, I recommend finding a private, secure location where you won't be disturbed, using headphones, keeping your video on, and avoiding using your car for sessions when possible.
Where is your Oakland therapy office located and is it accessible?
My office is conveniently located on Grand Avenue near Perkins Street in the Adams Point neighborhood, very close to Lake Merritt. Clients often walk, take the bus, or use BART to reach the office. Metered street parking is available for those driving. Our parking lot is reserved and not available for client or therapist use (only our neighbors from the neighboring lawyer’s office and residents who live in the building have dedicated spots). Currently, I reserve Mondays for in-person sessions, with all other days conducted via telehealth.
What types of therapy do you specialize in?
I specialize in supporting adults navigating relationship issues, childhood trauma, religious abuse, climate anxiety, grieving a loss, and general anxiety with trauma-informed counseling and EMDR therapy. I provide individual relationship and couples counseling and am experienced in supporting LGBTQIA+ experiences and healing after divorce.
How do I schedule a consultation or get in contact?
You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation here. Please allow up to two business days for responses. If you're experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact 911 or your local crisis hotlines immediately.
What should I expect from EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy particularly effective for trauma recovery, anxiety, and grief processing. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I can help you process difficult experiences and emotions in a safe, supportive environment.
